Since 2022, NEUROdiab is no longer officially affiliated with EASD, but is an EASD-recognized study group that acts as a reference group for EASD in matters related to diabetic neuropathy.
The change in the affiliation status of Study Groups has led to the need for a new legal definition and statute. The new Bylaws were crafted with the assistance of an Italian law firm, considering the previous bylaws, mission and requirements of NEUROdiab, as well as the Italian law. These Bylaws were then discussed and approved during the General Assembly held in Thessaloniki on 29 September 2023.
The "Diabetic Neuropathy Study Group - NEUROdiab" Association was officially established on 3 April 2024 in Rome, with the newly formulated Bylaws.
